Paramount Materials — Geosynthetics
Woven and nonwoven Mirafi® fabric and Miragrid® / BXG geogrid by the roll — separation, stabilization, reinforcement, filtration, drainage, and paving interlayers. Matched to your soil and load.
The full line, by function
The Mirafi® line splits into woven geotextiles, nonwoven geotextiles, paving interlayers, and structural geogrids. Start with what the material has to do — carry load, move water, or reinforce soil — then drill into the series and roll size that fits your spec.

The fastest way to narrow the line: decide whether the material's main job is carrying load, moving water, or reinforcing soil. Most specs point clearly to one of the three.
The Geotextile Spec Finder narrows the full Mirafi fabric and geogrid line by strength, AOS, and application — so you can spec the right roll yourself in seconds. Pricing for most jobs is listed right on the site; need a volume quote? Request one below.
Buyer's guide
Mirafi® is TenCate's line of engineered geosynthetics, now manufactured by Solmax. It spans two product families. Geotextile fabric — woven or nonwoven polypropylene — is laid between soil layers to separate aggregate from subgrade, filter water while holding fines in place, and drain subsurface water off the grade. Geogrid — the BXG, Miragrid XT, and MiraMesh series — is a rigid, open grid structure that mechanically interlocks with soil and aggregate to reinforce the soil mass itself. Contractors, engineers, and DOTs specify by series and grade because each one is built and tested to published strength, flow, and aperture values.
The fabric line splits into two weaves. Woven Mirafi fabric — the X, HP, RSI, and FW series — is made from flat tapes for high tensile strength at low stretch, so it carries load under roads, pads, and aggregate. Nonwoven Mirafi fabric — the N, S, and G series, including the widely used Mirafi 140N filter fabric — is needle-punched for higher flow and cushioning, which suits drainage, filtration, and liner protection. Paving-grade interlayers (MPV, MPG, MPM, MTK, TM) sit between asphalt lifts for sealing and stress relief.
Mirafi geogrid works differently from fabric: instead of separating or filtering, its ribs and apertures confine aggregate and distribute load across a wider area. Biaxial grids (BXG, MiraMesh) reinforce roadway bases and soft subgrades; uniaxial grids (Miragrid XT) carry load in a single direction for retaining walls and reinforced slopes. Every series above ships by the full roll with free shipping, and DOT-spec and AASHTO M288 fabric equivalents are stocked. If you know the performance numbers you need, the Geotextile Spec Finder matches your specification to the right product in a couple of steps.
Common questions
Geotextile fabric is a continuous sheet — woven or nonwoven — that separates soil layers, filters water, and provides some reinforcement. Geogrid is a rigid, open grid of ribs and apertures that mechanically interlocks with aggregate to reinforce the soil mass itself. In short: fabric separates and filters; geogrid reinforces. Many heavy jobs use both together — a separation fabric over soft subgrade with a geogrid above it for structural support.
Mirafi 140N is a nonwoven needle-punched geotextile used for separation and filtration — most often as a filter fabric in French drains, under riprap and drainage stone, behind retaining walls, and to keep aggregate separated from soft subgrade soils. It lets water pass through while holding back fines, which prevents clogging and rutting. It's one of the most widely specified nonwoven fabrics on the market.
The BXG series (biaxial geogrid), the Miragrid XT series (uniaxial geogrid), and the MiraMesh series (biaxial geosynthetic) are geogrids, used for structural soil reinforcement in retaining walls, reinforced slopes, and roadway base stabilization. The X, HP, RSI, FW, MSCAPE, N, S, and G series are geotextile fabrics, and the MPV, MPG, MPM, MTK, and TM series are paving interlayers.
Mirafi® is a TenCate Geosynthetics brand, now produced by Solmax after its acquisition of TenCate's geosynthetics business. Many Mirafi products are manufactured in the United States, though some grades are produced elsewhere. Paramount Materials is an authorized supplier of the full Mirafi fabric and geogrid line.
Woven Mirafi fabric (X, HP, RSI, FW series) is made from flat polypropylene tapes for high tensile strength with very little stretch — it's built to carry load, so it's used for stabilization, reinforcement, and separation under heavy aggregate. Nonwoven Mirafi fabric (N, S, and G series) is needle-punched for higher water flow and cushioning, which makes it better for filtration, subsurface drainage, and protecting liners and pipe. As a rule of thumb: choose woven to carry load, nonwoven to move water.
Paramount Materials stocks the complete Mirafi geotextile fabric and geogrid line shown above by the full roll, with free shipping on every order. Browse by series using the cards above, or use the Geotextile Spec Finder to match a specification to the right product.
Yes. Many Mirafi series carry AASHTO M288 classifications and meet state DOT geotextile specifications. Paramount stocks DOT-spec and AASHTO M288 equivalents — use the Geotextile Spec Finder to match a class or spec value to the right series.
