Designed to keep gravel in place, Gravel-Lok binds various types of gravel together providing a strong-porous surface which can be installed in a wide variety of different applications and settings.

Gravel-Lok is a Polyurethane Based Gravel Binder.
Why it matters: Polyurethane binders perform far better long term than low-cost water based gravel binders. Additionally, due to their decreased strength, water based binders are not suitable for regular foot or vehicular traffic without frequent re-application.

Note: Please allow a 7-10 business day lead time prior to shipping for 50 gallon gravel lock drums.

NOTE: This product is ineligible for return or order cancellation once the order has been shipped.

Tip: minimum depth should be at least 3× your stone size (e.g. ½" stones → minimum 1.5" depth).

💡 Tips:
  • Stone selection: Use washed and cleaned angular stones — angular edges interlock better for durability, and clean stones ensure proper bonding.
  • Minimum depth: Depth should be at least 3× your stone size (e.g. ½" stones → 1.5" minimum depth).
  • Light-colored stones? Use Clear formula — it contains UV additives and won't discolor your stones.
  • Mix ratio: Do not exceed 20–24 oz of liquid per 5-gallon bucket of stones (~50 lbs). Too much liquid causes foaming.
  • 🌡️ Temperature: Install only when temperatures will remain between 50°F and 90°F for at least 24 hours after application to ensure proper curing.
  • ⚠️ Installing over existing concrete? Add a roll coat to the concrete and while it is wet add the mixed Gravel-Lok with gravel to help it stick to the concrete.

Coverage rates — Mix: 1" = 37.2 SF/gal · 1.5" = 24.8 SF/gal · 2" = 18.6 SF/gal · Roll coat = 90 SF/gal  |  Pour: 1 light pour = 19 SF/gal · 2 light pours = 14 SF/gal.

Driveway application note
Gravel-Lok can be used on driveways, but the cost is typically much higher than pouring asphalt or concrete. It cannot be applied to an existing driveway surface, as additional underground support products are required, and regular re-application is often needed annually to keep the surface in good condition. See the Gravel-Lok Driveway FAQ for more information.

Important note
The mix method ratio has been updated since this video was published. It is now 20 oz. of liquid to a five-gallon bucket of stone (do not fill the bucket to the top — fill to the 5-gallon mark, a few inches from the top). Roll coat coverage is 400–500 SF per five-gallon container, or 80–100 SF per gallon.

Recommended Accessories

A geotextile base layer separates your aggregate from the subgrade and stabilizes the surface — the ideal foundation before you place Gravel-Lok stone (see Step 04). DuPont SF-20 is the recommended fabric.

DuPont SF-20 geotextile fabric roll, 6.25 feet by 300 feet
Geotextile Base Layer

DuPont SF-20 — 6.25' × 300'

1,875 SF per roll. Ideal separation and stabilization layer beneath a Gravel-Lok surface. Best for larger installations.

DuPont SF-20 geotextile fabric roll, 4 feet by 300 feet
Geotextile Base Layer

DuPont SF-20 — 4' × 300'

1,200 SF per roll. Same separation and stabilization fabric in a narrower roll — a good fit for paths and smaller areas.
