How To Clean Your Bollard Covers:

Once spring is around the corner, it's time to clean both the inside and outside of your business, store, or facility  That also includes your bollard covers that have been protecting your property.  Here are some tips to help you properly clean the elements that have built upon your bollard covers during the winter months.

The natural elements can reap havoc on just about everything that is outside.  That includes mud, snow, salt, grass, etc.  Your bollard covers can handle all these elements but their marks will be left behind.  Thanks for their HDPE plastic, these covers are very easy to clean.

You will need a bucket of warm, soapy water, a non-abrasive, all-purpose cleaner, and some rags.  Wash down the cover with the warm, soapy water and use both wet and dry rags.

Once the plastic is completely clean, wiped down, and all debris has been removed, use a clean, fresh rag to dry it off.  Next, wash the cover again using the non-abrasive, all-purpose cleaner. This will help to remove any other remaining debris and give the plastic a really nice shine.

Graffiti:

As with many other outside surfaces, bollard covers can be subject to graffiti.  That said, there is a way to remove the ink left by vandals.

You will need a bucket of warm, soapy water, rags or paper towels, and a dry erase marker.

Take the dry erase marker and completely cover the graffiti.  Be sure the entire marker is completely covered with the dry erase.

Once it's completely covered, take a dry rag or paper towel and wipe off the ink.  This might take a little work or elbow-grease but all the ink should come off pretty easily.

Once the ink is gone, take the warm soapy water and a damp rag to clean up the entire area of the cover.

Stickers:

Because these covers are located in areas that have high-traffic, the covers are favorite places for people to place stickers to advertise or just to deface.  Using a good household product should remove the stickers with a little work.

You will need a bucket of warm, soapy water, rags, a small plastic or metal razor blade, and lacquer thinner (such as Goo Gone).

Use the warm soapy water and a rag to soak the stickers.  Once fully soaked, take the razor blade and carefully scrape off the sticker.  Be careful not to scratch the plastic's surface.

In most cases, there will still be some residue from the sticker left behind.  Take the lacquer thinner and place it over these areas.  After sitting for the recommended period time, use the razor blade or a rag to remove this residue.

Once the residue is completely removed, use the warm soapy water to wipe down the entire area.

Even though bollard covers are maintenance-free, giving your covers a good bath after a long winter will make them look so much fresher and ready for spring!
